Are you HOOKED?

The Most Important Factor in a Successful Shortform Vertical Video

This ONE trick got me 10x more sales…

If I had to start from scratch, I would focus way more on THIS…

STOP making this mistake with your business…

⬆️ All things I would say to open a TikTok.

In a recent study done by Hubspot, short-form vertical video was shown to rank #1 for lead generation and engagement.

Simply put, if you are not actively publishing to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Youtube Shorts, you are a DUMMY.

But HOW do you start a video off on the right foot and get your audience to stick around? The first 1-3 seconds of your video are crucial to its overall performance.

Here are a few Angles to try for your hook:

FEAR

Igniting fear in your audience is one of the most effective ways to make them keep watching. Fear of missing out, fear of making a mistake, fear of not acting fast enough.

Some of the most popular fear-based hooks that you can apply to your niche:

  • Are you making this super obvious mistake in X? (your finances, your art sales, etc.)

  • Three things you should NEVER do when X

  • This is my single biggest regret, please don’t follow in my footsteps

  • This is why I’ll NEVER X again

Feel the fear. Lean in.

CURIOSITY / TRANSFORMATION

There are two types of people in this world:

Those who love a good before-and-after post, and psychopaths.

Quick transformation TikToks and Reels give your audience an immediate Dopamine hit. They are an easy way to give your product or service a boost, but longer-form vertical video content can also be effective using this method.

It’s part of the reason why “storytime” creators like Elyse Myers are some of the most successful people on the platform.

They start with an absurd premise up top, like “Why do they tell your to cross your legs going down a waterslide?”

Uh, I don’t know, but I sure as hell am gonna stick around to find out.

Take your audience on a journey, but let them know right up front why they should see it through.

Incite the "YES"

Get your audience to say “Yes” within the first 3 seconds of the video. This can be applied to any niche.

Ask one question in the intro that prompts a yes:

  • Do you want to be making/saving more money?

  • Want to feel GREAT about X?

  • I’m guessing you would love to feel more secure about X

  • Want to learn to take THIS (example) to THIS (finished product)

Elite Video Marketer of the Week:

This week Jon broke down how to Dominate YouTube and TikTok.

Jon built his men's fashion YouTube channel, The Kavalier, to over 140k subscribers

Next, he co-founded Stryx and used TikTok to bootstrap an audience. Now, TikTok is the #1 driver of sales for Stryx's skincare and cosmetic products.

One of the biggest takeaways from Jon’s story was how crucial his face was to the success of both brands.

People connect with people, not products or services. Jon has done a great job at connecting with his audience and made his voice the catalyst for the Stryx brand.

It may be uncomfortable, but You Need to Embrace This if you’re going to be an Elite Video Marketer.
