“I Can’t Look at Myself on Video”
I was speaking at a conference last week and an attendee explained her video production process like this;
“I just record myself, send the file to a VA, then she edits it and posts it. I can’t review it because i hate watching myself on video”
It is common to be your own worst critic.
You dislike your voice, focus on one element of your appearance, or see through your performed confidence.
Here’s what I’d encourage you to keep in mind. No one is paying as close attention to your videos as you are.
They’re going to be more focused on what you’re saying, the captions, and the general aesthetic, rather than the minute details that you’re fixated on.
Also, everyone started off terrible at video. Like even the biggest creators in the world. Go back and watch an MKBHD or MrBeast video when they just got started.
The camera sucked, the delivery was boring, and they certainly didn’t look dashing.
But, they stuck with it. They edited their own videos, so they were acutely aware of what they were doing suboptimally.
In the next video, they tried to be a little bit better. That process continued for years, until today. Where they can hit publish and immediately reach millions of people.
They still get mean comments.
But they know how far they’ve come and how high quality their work is.
You can follow a similar path.
Even if you only earn 1/1,000th the audience, your business will be transformed.
