Let it Die

(A gift for you: FREE Video Marketing Course)

There are a collection of ideas that you know will yield greater results.

  • More Singular Focus.

  • Put in the Work that Your Competition Won’t.

  • Leverage New Tools in Creative Ways.

  • Study the Greats.

But an overlooked skill in achieving outsized video marketing results is knowing when to kill a project, series, or effort that isn’t working.

In a world where “data is the new oil” the results you are getting are relatively unambiguous.

If no one is watching, and no one is engaging, and no one is signing up for more, it’s not working.

Now, maybe you’re a pure artist who is just in it for the work… then, I’d wonder why you’re reading a newsletter titled Elite Video Marketing.

But, if you’re like most of the creatives out there, you want to make videos that inspire action and create the economic foundation for you to make more.

A part of making more is being aware of the data, while also being in touch with your instincts.

Multiple times in my career, data and gut instinct has told me that we needed to change paths.

I killed a series of TikTok listicles doing millions of views.

I shut down the Piper Rundown despite it accounting for >80% of our YouTube subscribers.

I stopped my podcast despite having 500+ episodes.

Each time, there was some pain associated with quitting. But as soon as the decision was made, I also felt a burst of creative energy that propelled me to new heights.

Nature has already figured this out.

Forest fires remove low-growing underbrush off the ground, open it up to sunlight, and nourishes the soil.

Reducing the competition for nutrients allows established trees to grow stronger and healthier, giving healthy forests fewer, larger, healthier trees.

Are you doing some early spring cleaning?
