Ladies and gents, we are sitting at a pivotal time in social media.

Since TikTok’s uprising and the explosion in popularity of short form vertical videos, we’ve seen platform after platform re-orient their features and user experiences to try and compete for our attention.

Instagram created Reels.

YouTube created Shorts.

And now, Linkedin has…this:

On the Linkedin mobile app, there is essentially a carbon copy of any other vertical video feed, accessible by the bottom navigation bar. 

Why does this matter?

Back when Instagram first introduced Reels, it was incredibly easy to amass hundreds of thousands - or millions - of views. Why? 

Basic economics:

There was little supply of vertical video content, but HIGH demand. 

Instagram rewarded small creators using this new feature with substantial organic reach.

The same thing happened with YouTube shorts, and for Linkedin, the time to act is now.

People are still figuring out how to use this feature, we’re seeing everything from viral TikTok reposts to incorrectly formatted horizontal podcast clips. And yet, those videos are still performing well (better than they should imo) because the supply is still so low.

I pose this challenge to you: do not wait to post your first vertical videos on Linkedin
