Quality In, Quality Out

Quality In, Quality Out

If you watch a movie made by a generational director, like Tarantino, Nolan, or James Cameron, it’s easy to think that they were especially gifted.

God, Nature, or Luck blessed them with exceptional natural talent for shooting video and editing it into a compelling story.

But, take a second to re-read that sentence. Seems somewhat improbable, right?

Evolution surely made us into better storytellers. And God’s word has been transferred through religious texts for millenia.

But, cameras are an infant technology in the scope of time. Editing footage is embryonic.

Study the stories of those titans and you realize they just did the work to get better at the craft.

Cameron went to his local library in Orange County, California, and read every book they had on film production.

Tarantino has watched at least one movie per day every single day of his life since his early teens.

Nolan taught himself all the technical aspects of filmmaking, including how to operate cameras and edit film.

These things take time. But if you do the work, and stay outta trouble, it is inevitable that you can be a master of the craft of video.
