🎥 How to Re-Purpose Videos for Different Platforms

Welcome back Elite Video Marketers,

Today we’re breaking down how to get the absolute most bang for your buck with your video content.

How can you turn a single video into 10+ pieces of content for the platforms that matter?

One creator in particular who does this extremely well is Ali Abdaal.

Abdaal is a former Doctor turned YouTuber, and podcaster. He stopped practicing medicine in 2020 to pursue becoming a full-time content creator.

On his channel, Abdaal focuses on productivity, tech, and health. He also interviews a wide variety of successful entrepreneurs on his podcast.

Abdaal publishes long-form, well thought-out videos with the intention to encourage viewers to change their lives for the better in some small way.

One look at his channel and you can tell this guy studies the YouTube greats:

His thumbnails have striking cleanliness and clarity and they adhere to many of the best practices MrBeast uses in his own thumbnails.

More than just his thumbnails though, Abdaal’s entire content strategy is impressive.

Let’s take one of his videos for example, My Productivity Desk Setup (Portable):

The video itself is on the shorter side for his channel. It’s broken up into 4 sections explaining everything he has in his portable desk setup and why it works for him.

He then is able to break down the video into the following:

Abdaal creates at least one Linkedin post, tweet thread, and short-form vertical video from the content of the original video.

They don’t even have to be snagged directly from the video itself. Oftentimes the vertical videos are casually shot on his phone, but he’s discussing the same basic premise.

Keep in mind that these vertical videos can be shared on TikTok, Youtube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and Linkedin. If he tweaks them slightly to better adhere to a specific platform’s tools and algorithm, he increases his chance of content riding much further than a single YouTube video.

The most common objection we hear from folks who worry about posting similar content to multiple platforms is “won’t my audience get sick of me?”

No. 100% not possible.

The algorithms on each respective platform are programmed to reward consistency; if you show up every day with quality content, you will do well. However, many people are already showing up every day.

You are not the only person posting to Linkedin, or TikTok, or any other relevant platforms. There is a tiny, miniscule percentage of your audience that will see everything you publish, but the vast majority of the people who follow you will not keep up with all of your content.

As Abdaal and many other incredibly successful YouTubers have demonstrated, breaking down your full-length videos into many micro pieces of content garners major brand recognition..

Make the juice worth the squeeze: let your content breathe in as many forms and on as many platforms as possible.

Have an ELITE Week,
